Biography
Necati Münir Ertekün was born in 1923 in Lefkoşa. He graduated from Cambridge University, Law Faculty in 1946 and served as the Vice Attorney General to the British Colonial Administration between 1943-1953 in Tanzania. Between 1953-1960, he served as Assistant Attorney General and as of 1960 he served as Constitutional Court Judge in Cyprus. He served as the President of the Supreme Court of the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus from 1975 until his retirement in 1978. He was a member of the United Nations Association of Cyprus. He has published four books on political issues.
He was a member of the Constituent Parliament of the TRNC in 1983. He also served as Minister of Defense and Foreign Affairs of the TRNC between 1983 and 1985.
He passed away on 25 December 2009.
Ertekün, who spoke English, was married and had three children.
